The St John is the more
dramatic of Bach’s two famous Passion settings and
will be sung, appropriately on Palm Sunday evening,
by an extended St Peter’s Choir and brilliant young
soloists. The orchestral accompaniment will be
provided by the London Concertante Chamber
Orchestra, who are coming on a Sunday especially to
play for this. Sylvia Pritchard will be conducting
this performance, which is being given in memory of
her husband, Tom, who died last year.

A Celebration of the Four

in Words and
Music
Divertimento
Ensemble
Divertimento entertained
us last season with two Clarinet Quintets,
thoroughly enjoyed by those who attended. We have
asked them back but with a performance that is a
bit different. The quartet will be joined by an
actor reading excerpts from literature and poems to
celebrate gardening. This is obviously appropriate
for the many lovely gardens and keen gardeners in
Budleigh Salterton.

The Choristers of Exeter
Cathedral
directed by
Andrew
Millington and
Stephen Tanner
The senior choristers,
both the boys and the girls, from Exeter Cathedral
will sing a programme of church and secular music
including works by Fauré, Purcell and Howard
Goodall. There will also be some organ solos.
It is a few years since St Peter’s welcomed the
cathedral choir and we are delighted to have them
back again. They are, of course, different
youngsters from those we welcomed last time but we
can be sure they will be equally entertaining.

talented youngsters from Exeter School is welcomed

It is too early to be able to quote their programme
but rest assured that it will be as entetaining and
as exuberant as ever. Exeter School has an enviable

a Come and Sing

is derived from the biblical story of the creation
and is told by the Archangels Raphael, Uriel and
Gabriel but includes extracts from the Psalms and
Milton’s Paradise
Lost. There are some great
choruses like The Heavens are
Telling and Achieved is the
